TIP: Perspiration Stains: Perspiration stains are caused by body oils, mineral salts and enzymes mixing together on fabrics. If they are not removed, they can weaken and discolor fabric. To remove the stains from washables, soak for 30 minutes to an hour in an enzyme-based stain remover, then launder in warm water. If stain has discolored fabric, use a bleach that is safe for the fabric.

TIP: Washing Flame Retardant Children's Clothing: According to the Department of Agriculture, when washing flame retardant clothing in phosphate-free detergent, add 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle. This will help the fabric retain its flame retardancy.

TIP: Carpet Static Electricity: Static electricity is caused by low humidity and commonly occurs when moisture is removed from the air by heat. Use a humidifier or apply anti-static solution to carpet and fabrics. In a spray bottle, mix a solution of 5 parts water and 1 part FullSoft Fabric Softener and lightly spray the carpet.

TIP: Removing Adhesive Tub Mats or Decals: Try to lift a corner with a sharp-edged plastic or wooden scraper to loosen the adhesive. Pull up and peel back from all corners, working toward the center. If this is difficult, apply a generous amount of Pre-Laundry Stain Remover Liquid over the bottom of the tub. Allow solution to soak for about two hours, then try lifting. Rinse the tub well to avoid slipping.

TIP: Cleaning Mineral Deposits from Iron: Premix 1/2 cup water and 1 Tablespoon of All-Purpose Descaler (#676). Add to iron and allow iron to heat (for no longer than 5 minutes), drain and rinse several times. Repeat if necessary.
